Michael Schiefel
Somehow I overlooked the 2006 release Don't Touch My Animals from one of my favorite a cappella artists, Michael Schiefel, a virtuoso jazz singer from Germany who accomplishes some extremely lush and groovy arrangements by overdubbing himself a billion zillion times. He's using an octave pedal on almost every track to deepen the bass notes, but aside from that, the studio trickery on display is judicious, leaving you to marvel at the trickery on display in the actual singing.
