The Juan Maclean

The Juan Maclean returns with another album full of technopop goodness, featuring the vocals of LCD Soundsystem's Nancy Whang all over the place. It's called The Future Will Come, and it's got an insistent groove that is pretty infectious.

Fever Ray

The distinctive voice of Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife is one of the primary attractions of the new self-titled debut from Fever Ray, Andersson's solo nom de plume. Other attractions include the album's lush atmosphere and surprisingly organic-sounding electronic shadings; I was somewhat reminded of older Kate Bush records, "in a good way!"

Fever Ray - When I Grow Up
Fever Ray - Seven

Heroes of the Dancefloor

Don't let the band's name fool you: although it's obvious that Heroes of the Dancefloor could bust out with wall to wall grooves if they felt like it, their recent album Torch is vastly more entertaining than that. Swerving stylistically into smoky jazz, theatrical pop, and yes, a bit of disco here and there, the record feels a little like the goofier, Broadway side of the Scissor Sisters. This is perfect Friday music.

Heroes of the Dancefloor - Ricky

Watcha Clan

Watcha Clan's new Diaspora Remixed is exactly the kind of textured global fusion I am always on the lookout for. I thought Diaspora Hi-Fi was revelatory in itself, but I'm certainly happy to hear more iterations on the sound from quality remixers.

Watcha Clan - Lei Lei Ha (Transglobal Underground Remix)
Watcha Clan - Balkan Qoulou (Shazalakazoo Remix)

Mochipet

The last Mochipet album I heard was pretty much ruined by its wall-to-wall party boy lyrics. The new Mochipet album, Bunnies & Muffins, solves that problem by ditching vocals across the board, and turning in a reasonable Ratatat impression while he's at it. Seems like a trade up to me.

Mochipet - Anthem
Mochipet - Spring (feat. Daedelus)

mnolo

It's always nice when someone goes to the trouble of putting together a great compilation, and then the artists just give the whole thing away. In this case, the curator is Texas-based electronic artist mnolo, whose new comp Collagist ranges widely over a variety of genres, but hangs together due to "a mesh of organic musical elements blended w mnolo's original beat production, percussion performances, synth & sample arrangements and mix." Or something! Anyway, try the samples below, and then get the whole album here.

mnolo - Preludes & Nocturnes
