"Give. Listen. Help."

In the "better late that never" department, I just found out about the recent "Give. Listen. Help." benefit 2-CD compilation put out by Urban Outfitters and Filter Magazine, which for $15 ($14 of which goes to the Red Cross to help Katrina victims) will get you a smattering of unreleased tracks from the likes of TV On The Radio, Death Cab for Cutie, Devics, Calexico (remixed by Gotan Project), Low (remixed by Fog), Gang of Four (remixed by Ladytron) and others, as well as some nice album and B-side tracks from the likes of Radiohead, Blackalicious, Grandaddy, British Sea Power, Laura Cantrell, Of Montreal, Sigur Rós, Blonde Redhead, Lansing-Dreiden, Beck (remixed by Boards of Canada) and other indie darlings. It's actually way too indie for me overall, but I know how some of you folks love the rock and roll, so. I do actually love the TV On The Radio song, "Dry Drunk Emperor" (the reason I bought this in the first place), and hey, I finally heard my first Tom Vek song and it's, like, neat and stuff! But the surprise for me is that I have a reason to post the only Tom Waits composition I have unequivocally loved from the moment I heard it.

Tom Vek - Blessing In Disguise
The Album Leaf - Micro Melodies (live)
Tom Waits (with the Kronos Quartet) - What's He Building (live)

These and other fine, fine tracks can be heard on Comfort Radio. See you next week.
