Bassnectar

Another Wednesday guest post from Coe, who writes:

"The first Bassnectar CD is booty-shakin' beats and breaks; the bonus CD, actually a release of earlier work, is mellower, kinda noodly instrumental electronica. But that doesn't nearly capture its eclectic range. He says it better than me: 'organic fusion of psyhop, freakbeat, & bassalistic majik'. Also on his site he says 'A zealot on my crusade for "Vegan Music", I am bent on removing all the cheese from the songs I play out....' Heh. He's honed his chops at Burning Man, and displays a corresponding focus on community and making the world a better place. This is one of those CDs where there are so many good tracks, it's hard to decide what to put up. From the 2005 2-CD set Mesmerizing the Ultra."

Bassnectar is AKA DJ Lorin, one of my favorite DJs in San Francisco. And when you consider I hate most DJs in San Francisco, that's saying something.

i too am a big lover of lorin. he's been a fave DJ of mine since 1998's santa cruz full moon party trance scene. i'm really excited about this track w/ kyrian. i have heard kyrian beatbox live a number of times, once with amazing local folk singer sean hayes. kyrian has an incredible freaky talent for the mouth noises. i love it. this is bay area goodness at it's very very best. thanks so much for posting these. and thanks to darwin for leading me here!
